I created this lesson after a candid conversation my students and I had. They heard it on the news before I even had the chance to process myself, but when they brought it up I ran with it. My students know that I do not have all the answers to why things happen in the world, but I am proud to say that they also know they can talk to me about anything and trust that, answers or no answers, I care about what they have to say. Their voices matter, their questions, wonders, thoughts, and opinions matter. It is my job to make sure they know that, and they never forget it.
